    Flying boat cruises in for airport event

    A vintage Grumman HU-16 Albatross flying boat dubbed "American Clipper" arrives at Groton-New London Airport Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017.     Groton — A Grumman HU-16 Albatross flying boat dubbed "American Clipper" arrives at Groton-New London Airport Thursday.

    The vintage twin-engine flying boat, restored to flying condition in 2012, will be on display as part of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Fly-In at the airport Friday and Saturday.

    The event is open to public from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It will feature aircraft displays, demonstrations, a trade show and entertainment. Admission is free.
