    East Lyme Democrats endorse McKenney

East Lyme  — The East Lyme Democratic Town Committee has unanimously endorsed Hugh E. McKenney of Salem as candidate for state representative for the 37th District. The district represents East Lyme and Salem.

“Hugh McKenney has a long history of public service,” DTC chairwoman Sharon Hansen said in a statement. “He is committed to really hearing and understanding the issues that are important to the people of East Lyme and Salem, and to bringing civility, compassion and compromise back to government. These qualities make Hugh McKenney a candidate we are proud to endorse.”

McKenney works as a nuclear engineer at Dominion Energy and was elected to the Salem Board of Selectmen in 2017. He has also chaired Salem’s Planning & Zoning Commission.

“If elected as the state representative for Connecticut’s 37th District of East Lyme and Salem, my goals are to restore fiscal responsibility, encourage collaboration and bring people together to work for a better future for the residents of the 37th District,” McKenney said in a statement.

The East Lyme Democrats will host the 27th District State Representative Convention at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at McCook’s Park in Niantic.
