Fishing nonprofit will offer two-day safety course for commercial fishermen
The Fishing Partnership Support Services, a nonprofit organization that helps commercial fishermen with health care and free services, will offer a two-day water safety and survival course for fishermen next week.
The sessions on Thursday and Friday at the University of Connecticut at Avery Point will include training in skills like firefighting, using flares and survival suits, first aid and water rescues.
The training is a partnership between the Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership, the Maine Lobstermen's Association, Jeanette T Fisheries, the U.S. Coast Guard and UConn.
