North Stonington — The North Stonington Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Stonington Elementary School at 311 Norwich-Westerly Road.

The sale, which is the group's largest community event and fundraising activity, will boast offerings including vegetable seedlings, herbs, hanging baskets, annuals and perennials, the majority of which come from local nurseries and sometimes the gardens of the club members themselves.

The sale will also feature a rummage table and a master gardener table, and University of Rhode Island soil testers will be on site to test soil texture and pH for customers who bring a soil sample. The North Stonington Congregational Church will also be on hand selling sandwiches, snacks and pies.

Cashiers at the event are only able to accept cash payments or personal checks, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales will go back to the community in the form of seasonal civic plantings at Town Hall and the village green, winter wreaths on public buildings, grants to local organizations and an annual $1,500 college scholarship.
