    Old Lyme’s Beebe named Firefighter of Year

    Arthur “Skip” Beebe of Old Lyme was named the Connecticut State Grange Firefighter of the Year at its 134th annual convention in Norwich in October.

    Beebe joined the Old Lyme Volunteer Fire Department in 1968 and has served in a variety of positions including lieutenant, assistant chief, deputy chief, chief and president. He also serves on the bylaws committee and incentive planning committee.

    He is a member of Lyme Grange #147, where he serves as chaplain, sits on the executive committee and runs the Grange kitchen during the Hamburg Fair with his wife, Nancy. He was recognized for his work at the Grange’s monthly meeting on Nov. 1.

    Beebe also serves on the board of directors for the Old Lyme Historical Society, helping renovate the former Old Lyme Grange over the last four years. He is a master carpenter who owns Hudson Sullivan Homes and spends his free time tending to his garden and bees.
