Engineer Francis Bove of National Shoring uses an acetylene torch to cut the pipe of one of the six new bridge micropiles while at the construction site to replace the old wood bridge at Waterford Beach Park Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018. Bove was shortening a couple of the pipes so he and laborer Jason Steele, not shown, could place a metal beam across three micropiles so with added pressure from a jack they can test the static load of the new micropiles to check their load capacity. The new bridge will be made of concrete to allow authorized vehicles access to the beach area. (Dana Jensen/The Day)
