State police announce Labor Day traffic enforcement numbers

Connecticut State Police said that as of Monday morning, they had issued 447 speeding tickets over the long holiday weekend.
The agency said Monday that troopers also had responded to 363 accidents, one of which included a fatality, assisted 252 motorists and arrested 43 people on driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs charges. They also had issued 29 tickets for seat belt violations and 26 for distracted driving.
In total, police had received 5,709 calls for service by Monday morning since starting to take count midnight on Friday, Aug. 30.
