Troopers and sergeants from Connecticut State Police Troop E in Montville donated a morning pick-me-up of coffee and doughnuts to healthcare workers at Backus Hospital on April 1. The troopers were collecting money throughout the week to fund the delivery in support of hospital staff working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coordinated by Trooper Zachary Cash, Sgt. Albert Gosselin and Mary Brown, director of volunteer services at Backus, about a dozen troopers delivered treats from Flanders Donut and Bake Shop in East Lyme and Dunkin’ Donuts.

“We recognize how hard our friends in the health care field are working right now, and we are honored to be able to show our appreciation to those who working on the front lines of COVID-19,” Cash said in an email.
