Food and arts market to run Saturdays in New London this summer

New London — FRESH New London and Cultured AF have partnered to run the New London Community Dream Market, a farmers and arts market that will take place Saturdays from June through September.

Launching June 5, it will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Saturday on Mercer Street at Williams Street.

The vision is to have locally grown food, a donation-based vegetable stand, food trucks, live music, local art vendors and information on community resources.

A news release that Cultured AF CEO Juanita Austin sent said the NLC Dream Market "will build social cohesion and be a food access point for low income families this summer. The market is a place to share community information and will be a celebration of arts and culture in New London."

It's being run in partnership with the City of New London and the Health Improvement Collaborative.

The NLC Dream Market is accepting applications on a rolling basis for vendors — with no vendor fees — and performers at nlcdream.market. The organizers also are looking for volunteers to help run the market.

The market's website says it will prioritize vendors "who craft their own products, promote locally, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) owned businesses, and/or support the needs of New London's low income residents."
