Taste of Italy festival in Norwich canceled again due to COVID-19
Norwich — No pasta and meatballs, no cannoli and no bocce tournament or Italian art exhibit for the second straight year at Norwich Harbor.
The popular Taste of Italy food festival held in September is canceled for the second straight year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Frank Jacaruso, president of the Italian Heritage & Cultural Committee of Norwich, said the committee “regrettably” made the decision early on that it was too risky to schedule the oft-crowded event. The committee also canceled the annual Italian of the Year banquet.
Given the rise in COVID-19 cases with the very contagious delta variant, he said those turned out to be wise decisions.
“People have been saying to us, ‘If you have the banquet, I’m not going,’” Jacaruso said.
