New London parade to honor Olympian and baseball champions

New London — The city will hold a parade on Sunday to honor its star athletes, Olympian India Pagan and members of Babe Ruth and Little League championship baseball teams.

The parade kicks off at 2 p.m. from State Street at Washington Street, and continue to The Parade at State and Bank streets. The parade will be followed by a ceremony honoring the athletes.

Pagan, who played basketball for New London High School from 2014 to 2017 is a 2017 graduate of the Marine Science Magnet High School of Southeastern Connecticut in Groton. She played with the Puerto Rico women’s basketball team at the Olympics in Tokyo.

Also being honored is New London’s Babe Ruth 13-15 baseball state champions and Little League baseball state champions. The New London Babe Ruth Baseball team won the state championship and went to the championship game of the New England tournament. The city's Little League team defeated Fairfield in the finals.
