Waterford approves $1.8 million to pave roads

Waterford — The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday approved a total of $1.8 million to repair and pave roads using money the town has saved for years.

First Selectman Rob Brule said the use of the undesignated fund balance will not affect residents' taxes and will allow needed road projects to be completed.

"Committing additional funding to paving roads in town is a priority, residents have made that clear," he said.

The roads that will be paved include Butlertown Road, the northern section of Niantic River Road, Oil Mill Road, Lakes Pond Road and Daniels Avenue. The request now will move on to the Board of Finance and Representative Town Meeting for approval.

If approved, the paving will be scheduled for the spring and summer of 2022.
