    Waterford Republicans maintain control of Board of Education and RTM

    Waterford — Republicans retain their hold on the Board of Education and Representative Town Meeting in all but District 2 after Tuesday's elections.

    Four Democrats and two Republicans on the ballot vied for four spots on the nine-member school board. Those elected for those four seats were Incumbent Democrat Joy Gaughan, Incumbent Democrat Deb Roselli Kelly, Newcomer Republican Kathleen Elbaum and Incumbent Republican Chris Jones. That leaves the Board of Education with six Republicans and three Democrats.

    Republican Chris Jones said Tuesday night that he was very pleased to be back on the board and looked forward to tackling the budget.

    The RTM is one of the biggest forms of municipal legislative bodies, 33 candidates were in the running for 24 spots on the RTM. Winners were:

    1st District — Democrat Cheryl Larder, Democrat Nick Gauthier, Democrat Paul Konstantakis, Republican Danielle Steward-Gelinas, Republican Richard Holmes and Republican Timothy Condon.

    2nd District — Democrat Kristin Gonzalez, Democrat Ted Olynciw, Democrat Greg Attanasio, Democrat Mary Childs, Republican Dave Welch and Republican Kevin Girard.

    3rd District — Democrat Tim Fioravanti, Democrat Jennifer Kohl, Republican Steve Garvin, Republican Paul Goldstein, Republican Jennifer Antonio-Bracciale, Republican Richard F. Muckle and Republican Ryan Healy.

    4th District — Unaffiliated candidate Dan Radin, Democrat Susan Driscoll, Republican Michael Bono, Republican Michael Rocchetti, Republican David Sugrue and Republican Thomas Dembek.

    Democrat Glenn Patterson, Democrat Joe Filipetti and Republican Ron Fedor won three, full-term spots on the finance board.

    Republican Robert Tuneski and Democrat Baird Welch-Collins won two seats to fill vacancies on the finance board for two years.

    Democrat Mike Buscetto III and Republican Lee Couture won seats on the Board of Assessment Appeals while Republican Anne Darling, Democrat John R. Morgan and Democrat Michele Kripps were uncontested for three positions on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

    Republican Greg Gallup and Democrat William Herzfeld will serve as alternates for the Zoning Board of Appeals.
