Richard Sudol recently joined Chelsea Groton Bank as executive vice president and chief financial officer. In addition to oversight of the bank’s financials, Sudol will have management responsibility for the bank’s Technology Department.

Most recently, Sudol served as CFO at Connex Credit Union in North Haven, and previously spent eight years as CFO at Simsbury Bank, with additional leadership responsibility for technology. He spent the early part of his career in finance and accounting in roles of increasing responsibility at Webster Bank. After Webster, he worked for a very large mortgage servicing company, a mid-sized commercial bank and a de novo bank start-up before joining Simsbury.

“Rich is a seasoned industry professional with the skills and experience necessary to execute on our overall strategic business objectives. He has proven experience leading smaller community banks as well as very large organizations in the areas of finance and accounting,” said Michael Rauh, president and CEO of Chelsea Groton Bank, in a release. “With responsibility for our financial planning and analysis leadership function, as well as technology, Rich will work with leaders across the organization to help carry out our vision for Chelsea Groton’s continued role as a leading bank in the region and critical member of our business community.”

A native of Connecticut, Sudol graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. He earned his MBA from Quinnipiac University. He currently resides in Glastonbury.

Sudol’s predecessor, Richard Morelli, recently retired after 30 years with Chelsea Groton Bank.
