    Williams School boys win Housatonic lacrosse championship

    The Williams School’s boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Harvey School of Katonah, N.Y., 17-6 on its home turf to clinch the Housatonic Valley Athletic League championship tournament.

    The boys team, led by head coach and Head of School Mark Fader, ended the regular season with a 8-3 record, 5-1 in league play, finishing the season first in the HVAL. Senior midfielder Robbie Darling (of Westerly) had four goals and an assist, while junior midfielder Cody Delaurentis (Haddam) controlled the face-offs and scored two goals and led the team with five assists. The Li Brothers (East Lyme), sophomore midfielder Brendan and freshman attackman Brian, each had three goals for the Blues. The defense was led by senior defenseman Sterling Frost (Pawcatuck) with eight ground balls controlled and two assists and senior goalie Colby Potts (Old Saybrook) who was stellar in goal with 22 saves on 28 shots.

    The team was captained by seniors Robbie Darling, Sterling Frost and Colby Potts, as well as junior Cody Delaurentis. Faculty coaches Andrew Ferrucci (goalies), David Karlin (defense), and Liam Tresnan (junior varsity) also provided strong support.
