Be An Angel: Interfaith group stands up against hate

Norwich Area Interfaith Association (formerly the Norwich Area Clergy Association) is composed of representatives from various faiths: Jewish, Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist and Bahá’í Faith, from the Norwich area. The community leaders had a meeting on Dec. 1 at Sikh Art Gallery to denounce the hate messaging displayed on a truck seen at the ShopRite plaza and around city hall in downtown Norwich a few weeks ago targeting the Sikh community.

Representatives of the interfaith group had a message for everyone who displays such signs: “Hate has No Home in our City of Norwich.”

“The Norwich area Interfaith Association looks forward to embracing all the cultures and nationalities that live in Norwich,” the group said in a release. “We look forward to having more educational events to help people understand our various faith-based communities to prevent future hate crimes.

“No one should feel left out in Norwich as we are a welcoming city and we will remain one. When we stand in unity, we stand for Justice and Equity.”
