New London – Colter Rhett Thompson arrived four days early, becoming the first baby of the New Year in southeastern Connecticut, born at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital at 9:06 a.m. Monday.

Colter, who weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, is the son of Samantha and Tyler Thompson of Groton, their third child. Colter has an older brother, Sawyer, and a sister McKinlee Thompson.

Backus Hospital in Norwich did not report a New Year’s Day baby by Monday evening.
