    Guzman leads Connecticut to 2-1 win over Tri-City

    TROY, N.Y. — Carlos Guzman tossed six scoreless innings, leading the Connecticut Tigers over the Tri-City ValleyCats in a 2-1 win on Thursday.

    Yaya Chentouf struck Austin Dennis out with a runner on second to end the game for his ninth save of the season.

    Guzman (3-3) struck out three and walked one to pick up the win.

    Connecticut got on the board first in the third inning when Wenceel Perez scored on a wild pitch and Gresuan Silverio hit an RBI single.

    The ValleyCats cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Nathan Perry hit an RBI single, driving in Trey Dawson.

    Mark Moclair (2-4) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and one hit in the New York-Penn League game. He also struck out five and walked four.
