Clinton — Sam Gray scored 23 points as surging Old Lyme defeated Morgan School 56-40 in a Shoreline Conference girls' basketball game on Monday.

Gray made four 3-pointers for the Wildcats (6-1), who have won six straight since losing their season opener. She also had five rebounds. Emily DeRoehn added eight points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for Old Lyme and Ali Kyle finished with eight points.

Morgan (5-2) had its five-game winning streak snapped.

H.S. boys' basketball

• Zach Johnson and Jason Cohen combined for 39 points and seven 3-pointers as Morgan remained unbeaten with a 62-47 win over Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference. Johnson finished with a game-high 25 for the Huskies (7-0) while Jacob Ritchie led the Wildcats (3-3) with 16 and Colbe Andrews added nine.

College honors

• UConn's R.J. Cole was named Big East Player of the Week in men's basketball. The junior point guard averaged 19 points, five assists in four rebounds while shooting 56.7 percent from the floor as the Huskies won a pair of games over Georgetown and Marquette. In addition, sophomore guard James Bouknight was named to the weekly Big East honor roll after averaging 22 points in two games and shooting 53.1 percent from the floor.

CGA adds games

• Coast Guard Academy announced some Saturday additions to its winter schedule. The Bears will host Eastern Connecticut in a men's and women's indoor track and field meet at 1 p.m. while Connecticut College will visit CGA for a women's basketball game, also at 1, and the wrestling team will travel to Southern Maine for a dual meet at noon. No spectators will be allowed.

ECC forms partnership

• University Orthopedics, a Rhode Island-based organization currently with offices in Westerly and Johnston, is crossing the border after signing a multi-year partnership with the Eastern Connecticut Conference to become the exclusive orthopedics partner of the conference.

"The health and safety of the student-athletes are paramount to our mission," ECC commissioner Gary Makowicki said in a release. "The opportunity to enhance that mantra with the expertise and support of University Orthopedics is welcomed and valued."

University Orthopedics will support a multiple number of ECC events, including a presence at all conference tournaments, while providing video content related to safe training methods, recovery, and other orthopedic health measures.
