    Palmer appointed to investment advisory panel

    Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Sharon M. Palmer of Quaker Hill to the Investment Advisory Council.

    The council advises Connecticut's state treasurer on the investment of the Connecticut retirement plans and trust funds.

    Palmer, who taught at Waterford's Clark Lane Middle School for 16 years, is president of the Connecticut American Federation of Teachers, which represents more than 28,000 teachers, school personnel, state and municipal employees, health care professionals, and higher education faculty.

    Palmer earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's College and her master's degree from Eastern Connecticut State University. Her term ends June 30, 2012.
