    Comcast boosts speeds

Comcast has announced Internet-service speed increases in the Northeast for some of its most popular products, boosting capabilities by 25 percent to more than 100 percent depending on the service plan.

The announcement for current and new customers comes at no additional cost and affects customers in 14 states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia, including Connecticut.

Kevin Casey, president of Comcast’s Northeast Division, said the company has boosted Internet speeds 17 times in the past 17 years. In most cases, the upgrade is automatic, but some customers will have to bring in older modems to be upgraded.
