Rick Ross at MGM Grand at Foxwoods

Rick Ross is the only rapper in history to have been arrested on weapons charges.

    Not really.

But he might be the only one who is also a former corrections officer. This information is important because so much about Hip Hop Persona is based on street cred and bragging rights. That Ross and his girfriend were also targets in a drive-by shooting - neither was injured - was even more fodder for his rhymes.

He and 50 Cent also had a feud - so that's good.

Oh, and there was the controvery about his song "U.O.E.N.O.," one verse of which seems very much to advocate date rape.

In 2012, Ross hilariously titled an album "God Forgives, I Don't"; it debuted at Number One on the Billboard charts.

The dude clearly has this rap stuff figured out. He appears Saturday in the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods and, in addition to hits, expect to hear samples from his next CD, "Mastermind," which is due out on Dec. 17.
