Connecticut Lyric Opera performs ‘Don Giovanni’ at Garde

Following performances in New Britain and Hartford, Connecticut Lyric Opera is bringing its production of “Don Giovanni” to New London on Friday.

The show will be under the music direction of Adrian Sylveen and stage direction of Giorgio Laloy. Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will accompany the CLO.

The plot for this classic Mozart opera is inspired by the story of Don Juan. “An incorrigible young playboy ... blazes a path to his own destruction in a single day,” the Garde site states.

Robert Garner portrays Don Giovanni. Garner was a New York City district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and he has performed everywhere from the Mississippi Opera to Opera Colorado.

Also starring in “Don Giovanni” are Nathan Resika, Errin Duane Brooks, Jurate Svedaite, Rebecca Almeida, Steven Fredericks, Jeremy Griffin and Stephanie Foster.

“Don Giovanni,” 7:30 p.m. Friday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; performed in Italian with English supertitles; $29-$45; gardearts.org, CTLyricOpera.org.
