    Marion Dengler, 95, of Ivoryton

    Marion Dengler, 95, of Ivoryton died Aug. 8. Born April 24, 1917 in Winthrop, she was a daughter of John and Susanna (Purucker) Dengler. Marion was a lifelong resident of Connecticut; she graduated from Deep River High School in 1935. She was employed for many years by Pratt Read Co. She was involved in the building of airplane gliders during World War II and later became a quality control inspector. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and oil painting. In her later years she devoted much of her life caring for her two sisters.

    She was predeceased by her sisters Eda Buckridge and Irene Dengler, and her brothers Truman Dengler, Sr., John Dengler, and Christopher Dengler.

    She leaves behind her nieces Lori Dengler Daley, Claudina Makuck, Joyce Bole, and Christine Werner; her nephews Truman Dengler, Jr., Michael Dengler, David Dengler, James Dengler, and Donald Buckridge; along with many great nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Swan Funeral Home, Old Saybrook.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lower Valley Visiting Nurses. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a graveside service on Monday, Aug. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Please visit www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com for memorial tributes.
