    William W. Davidson, 89, Westbrook, formerly of Torrington

    William W. Davidson, 89, of Westbrook, formerly of Torrington, died on March 4 at the Connecticut Hospice. He was the husband of Florence (Capuano) Davidson and the son of the late James and Jane (Welsh) Davidson. Bill spent the majority of his life in Torrington. He had been a member of the BPOE Elks Torrington, the Center Congregation Church, and the Seneca Masonic Lodge No. 55 for over 60 years. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, spending time in the South Pacific.

    Bill was born in Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1923 and came to the United Sates in 1927.  He graduated from Wilby High School in 1941 and worked as an executive at The Torrington Company for 38 years, retiring in 1987. He also worked for Waterbury Clock. Bill traveled all over the world.  He enjoyed music and reading, but he especially enjoyed golf, recording a hole-in-one at Greenwoods Country Club.

    Besides his wife, he is survived by children Janice Smigel and her husband Ed of Guilford, Bill Davidson and his wife Debbie of Andover, Massachusetts, and Jim Davidson and his wife Holly of Andover, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his sister Rosetta Fischang Watson of Southington, as well as six grandchildren, Melissa and Allison Smigel, Kimberly and Lindsay Davidson, and Matthew and Michael Davidson. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Davidson.

    Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 8, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:30 pm at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SARAH Foundation, 246 Goose Lane, Suite 104, Guilford, CT  06437.
