    Clifford D. Doebrick, 88, Branford

Clifford D. Doebrick, 88, of Branford, died at his Branford home on May 31.  He was the devoted husband of the late Edith Ceccolini Doebrick.  Cliff was born in Branford on April 16, 1925, son of the late Henry and Laura Hotchkiss Doebrick.  He grew up in Branford and had lived there his entire life.  Cliff was a very proud World War II U. S. Navy veteran, having served as a gunner’s mate on the USS Miami in the South Pacific.  He also worked for 30 years as a master mechanic for Pratt & Whitney in North Haven and was a communicant of St. Therese Church in Branford.

Cliff was known for his tremendous sense of humor and ability to tell a good story.  He took great pleasure in making others laugh.  In his younger years, he had been an avid fisherman and also enjoyed competitive bowling, horseshoes, and ping pong. In his later years, he enjoyed listening to music, watching UCONN girl’s basketball and spending time with his family. One of his greatest pleasures was being with his granddaughter, Sasha, who was the apple of his eye. Cliff was, more than anything else, a family man. He was a devoted father and an adoring grandfather and step-grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved daughters Cheryl A. Doebrick of New Haven and Laura D. Cabin and her husband Henry S. Cabin of Woodbridge, as well as his adored granddaughter Sasha N. Cabin of Woodbridge and step-grandsons Jonathan A. Cabin and Michael A. Cabin of New York City.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ruth Ceccolini of Branford and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Robert Doebrick.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, June 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, and are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.  For directions and online memorial see www.wsclancy.com.
