Robert W. 'Bob' Seitz, 93, Chester

Robert W. “Bob” Seitz, 93, of Chester, husband of more than 70 years to Maxine Seitz, died Aug. 16. He was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the late Earl and Cora Seitz.

Bob and his younger sister Kay grew up in Clinton, Iowa during the depression. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where he met Maxine. They were married June 14, 1942, the day after Bob graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. On June 15, 1942, Bob joined the United States Army, and served in Burma until his honorable discharge with the rank of major at the end of the war.

Bob then went on to work for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received promotions that took him and Maxine from Cincinnati to Chicago, New Jersey, Boston, and Kansas City, before returning back to Cincinnati in 1964 as head of the Central Manufacturing Division of the company. Bob retired from Procter and Gamble in 1984, and served as an auxiliary police officer for the Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill. After retiring from the Indian Hill Rangers at age 75, he took courses in industrial security and subsequently became a certified protection professional at age 81. Bob was also active for many years in the Defense Orientation Conference Association, a civilian nonprofit organization that provides and encourages continuing education on matters of national security and defense.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by their two children Victoria Jones of Guilford and Douglas Seitz of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren Jesse, Jennifer, Andrew, Michelle, Ashley, and Alexander; and two great-grandchildren Ian and Adam.
