New Haven — Stonington's Gabby Dellacono moved a step closer to playing in CIAC State Open girls' tennis final for the second straight year by winning a pair of matches on Monday to reach the semifinals at Yale University.

The top-seeded Dellacono, a junior who was the Open runner-up a year ago, defeated Sheehan's Justine Hoover 6-1, 6-0 in the third round before coming back to oust No. 8 Samantha Riordan of Hand 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Dellacono will play fifth-seeded Isabella Koziol of Wilton in Tuesday's semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Koziol also won twice, including a 6-4, 7-6 win over No. 4 Julia Migliorini of North Haven in the quarterfinals.

In Tuesday's other semifinal, No. 2 Madeline DeNucci of Glastonbury will play No. 3 Alyssa DiMaio of Staples. The singles final will be played on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Connecticut Tennis Center on the Yale campus.

H.S. golf

• Old Lyme finished fourth in the CIAC Division IV tournament at Timberlin Golf Club in Kensington. The Wildcats finished with 337 strokes, just 12 off the pace of fellow Shoreline Conference opponent Portland, which won with a 325 total. Immaculate (330) placed second while Shoreline rival Old Saybrook (333) placed third.

Notre Dame of Fairfield's Anthony Bouvier was the individual medalist with a 1-over-par 73. Corey Drummond led Old Lyme by tying for 10th with an 81 while Patrick Looney also finished in the Top 20 by tying for 12th with an 82. Also for the Wildcats, Thomas Creagan and Peter Macadam each shot an 87 and Connor Maguire finished with a 90.

• In the Division III tournament at Tallwood Country Club in Hebron, Montville's Sam Gaboury was the top local finisher, tying for 16th place with a 9-over 81. Killingly won the team championship, defeating East Catholic by two strokes in a three hole playoff after the teams tied in regulation with a medal point total of 309.

Coginchaug's Tyler Woodward shot a 5-under 67 to earn medalist honors. Stonington placed ninth with 356 strokes as Grant Hamilton shot an 84, Jacob Geary and Jack Glenn each shot 85, Aidan Adams shot a 102 and Justin Holland a 105.

College baseball

• UConn Avery Point Mike Aldrich announced that a pair of New London High School seniors, Aiden Brennan and Elijah Martinez, have committed to play for the Pointers next season. Martinez was a first team Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I all-star while Brennan earned honorable mention.

In addition, Avery Point outfielder Mike Chiovitti and catcher Alex Petchark of Waterford were named to the 2018 NJCAA Division II East District team. Aldrich also said Chiovitti will continue his collegiate career next season in Storrs, where he will join coach Jim Penders and the Huskies, fresh off an appearance in the NCAA tournament, where they lost to Washington in the Conway (S.C.) Regional title game on Sunday night.
