Groton — Bryce Bedard pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Panera Pirates beat the Three Rivers Sonics 9-0 on Monday night to win the Eastern Connecticut Major League playoffs title at Washington Park.
Jeremy Sagun had three hits, including a solo home run, and Sean Connelly had two hits and scored twice for the Pirates. Anthony Vitteritto and Jerrod Loy-Smith had the hits for the Sonics.

• The Connecticut Tigers lost to the Lowell Spinners 7-3 on Monday night. Jake Holton was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Jose King had a sacrifice fly for the Tigers (30-33).
