    Two hurt in Ledyard car crash

    Ledyard - Two people were taken to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich Friday after the Ford Escape they were in crashed into a rock wall on Sandy Hollow Road.

    The car came to rest on its roof with a boulder penetrating the windshield.

    Ledyard Ambulance, which was first on the scene, helped a woman out of the vehicle. Gales Ferry firefighters tended to a male victim, who had gotten out of the car on his own.

    Police didn't release any of the victims' names, but Gales Ferry Fire Chief Tony Saccone said the injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

    Sandy Hollow Road was closed for about an hour while the vehicle was righted and cleared from the scene.
