    Two arrested in drug bust

New London - Police conducting a narcotics investigation in the city arrested two men Wednesday who they say were selling heroin.

Sean Stevens, 39, of 345 Main St., Niantic, and Daniel Ganolli, 33, of 109 Hynes Ave., Apt. 3, Groton, each were charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of heroin within 1,500 feet of a school and interfering with police.

Ganolli also was charged with tampering with evidence.

Police said canine officers stopped a vehicle on Broad Street with the men inside, causing Ganolli to flee on foot.

After a short foot chase, Ganolli was captured.

Officers seized about 100 bags of heroin packaged for sale.

Police said more arrests are anticipated.

The arrests were the result of a several-week-long investigation into drug trafficking in the city. The public is encouraged to call the narcotics hot line to report any drug-related or other criminal behavior at (860) 447-9107. All calls will be kept confidential.

Both men are being held on $100,000 bonds, pending their arraignments Thursday at Superior Court on Broad Street in New London.
