Robbery suspect captured near Mohegan Sun casino

Montville – A Virginia man was arrested on robbery, larceny and drug charges Friday after state and town police were alerted to a possible assault in a vehicle on Route 32 and tracked the suspect as he attempted to flee into Mohegan Sun casino.

Scotty B. Rebby, 48, of Chesapeake, Va., was charged at 5:51 p.m. Friday with third-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, breach of peace, possession of narcotics and possession of prescription medication not in the original container. He was held by state police in Montville on a $10,000 bond and is due in Norwich Superior Court on Monday.

Police said the incident started with a report of an assault on a female victim inside a motor vehicle on Route 32 near Sandy Desert Road. The suspect fled the car prior to police arrival. Montville, Ledyard and state police at Troop E in Montville were involved in the search with two K-9 units and located Rebby attempting to flee into the casino.

Police said Rebby was found in possession of prescription narcotics and property that had been reported stolen in Norwich.
