Norwich - A 60-year-old Norwich man faces drunken driving charges after police said he nearly drove into the scene of an accident on North Main Street where police and firefighters were standing. 

Peter Heck, of 54 11th St., is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, traveling too fast for conditions and interfering with police. 

Previous to his arrest at the scene of the North Main Street accident, police said Heck had struck at least one parked vehicle and left the scene.
