Woman dragged behind stolen truck in New London

New London — A woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a man drove away her truck while she was loading furniture into it, dragging her for a short distance.

The 43-year-old Stonington woman was loading a table she purchased at Homegoods on North Frontage Road into the bed of her pickup truck shortly before 4 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Edward Sargent of the New London Fire Department.

While she was at the rear of the vehicle, an unknown male subject got into the driver's seat and took off, dragging the woman for a short distance before she fell from the truck, injuring her arm and causing other minor scrapes and bruises.

She was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, Sargent said.

The stolen truck is a white 2014 Ford F350 pickup truck with the registration 7741CP, New London police said in a news release. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man of medium build wearing a red shirt and jean shorts.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact New London Police at (860) 447-5269, ext. 0.
