Norwich woman charged with leaving toddler in hot car

Norwich — A city woman was charged with reckless endangerment Monday after police said she left her 1-year-old child unattended in a hot car.

Around 12:45 p.m. police said they responded to the parking lot of McDonald's on 109 Salem Turnpike, after receiving a report of an unattended child in a vehicle.

Police said they found the child sleeping in a car seat inside of a "hot, dark colored vehicle," which was not running and had its windows partially rolled down.

The child's mother, Dawa Dolma, 45, of 8 Carlson St., was located inside the restaurant. The child was transported by American Ambulance to Backus Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Polcie said they contacted The Department of Children and Family, which is conducting its own investigation. Police charged Dolma with leaving a child unsupervised and first-degree reckless endangerment. She was being held Monday on a $5,000 bond and is slated to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
