A Stafford Springs man who belonged to the Legion of Doom motorcycle club in Norwich was sentenced to 18 months in prison Wednesday for invading a home near the club's headquarters armed with a gun and assaulting a man he believed had hurt his sister's friend.

Christopher Manuel, 30, initially was charged with home invasion but pleaded guilty in New London Superior Court to reduced charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree assault. 

Norwich police said Manuel and 29-year-old Sean M. Simmons entered a home at 6 Bridge St. at 4:37 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2017. Inside, they found a 30-year-old man and his 39-year-old stepmother. According to the victims, Manuel charged at the man with a handgun while Simmons held the woman down on the couch. Manuel then allegedly tossed the gun aside and punched the man in the face, causing pain and bleeding.

Manuel and Simmons fled, but police were able to track them within three hours to the Legion of Doom motorcycle clubhouse at 242 Old Canterbury Turnpike.

Manuel admitted to punching the man, who he said had shoved his sister and assaulted her friend, who was the victim's girlfriend.

Simmons has a case pending in the same court and is due to appear there on Jan. 17.

Both men posted $100,000 bonds following their arrests.
