North Stonington — More than three dozen hemp plants were stolen and/or destroyed on Sunday at an outdoor hemp farm off Norwich Westerly Road, the grower reports.
Drew Schell, the lead hemp grower for the nonprofit Better Together CT Inc., said employees of the hemp farm arrived Monday morning to a find a fence cut and plants stolen. Schell said some of the more than 800 plants were ripped from the ground and left, as if the theft was interrupted.
State police are investigating the theft, he said. A state police representative was not immediately available to comment.
