Responders called to pair of wrecks on I-95 in Stonington
Stonington — First responders on Wednesday morning handled a pair of wrecks — one on either side of Interstate 95 — that were called in within minutes of each other, according to the state Department of Transportation.
According to state police, the first crash happened about 5:45 a.m. and involved a box truck. It took place on I-95 north between exits 91 and 92.
Police said the box truck struck a wire guiderail and rolled down an embankment, but the driver was not injured. At 8:30 a.m., the truck had not yet been removed, but police said a wrecker was on scene. The right lane was closed in the area.
The second wreck, in which a car rolled over, was called in not long after the first. It happened on I-95 south between exits 91 and 90.
Crews initially closed two lanes but by 7:15 a.m. had cleared the crash. Police said no one was injured.
