Body found in yard of New London home

New London — Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in the yard of a home near Plant Street and Montauk Avenue Sunday morning.

Emergency personnel responded to the home at 11:02 a.m. and confirmed the man was deceased. Police said the cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The New London County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are aware of the incident.

It’s the second time in a week a body has been found in the city. On May 7, two high school students found the body of 36-year-old Lebro Mei in a parking lot on the former Edgerton School property.

Police said Mei’s body showed “no overt signs of trauma.” His cause of death remains under investigation.
