Police investigating armed robbery at New London barbershop

New London — City police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery at Anibal Barbershop on Wednesday.

About 11 a.m., police responded to a call for a robbery at the barbershop on 29 Ocean Ave., according to a department news release. “The suspect displayed a handgun and threatened the victims with violence,” the release said, and took an unspecified amount of cash.

Police described the suspect as a 6-foot-tall Black male, possibly in his 30s or 40s, wearing a bluish gray T-shirt, dark pants and a baseball cap.

Police recovered evidence and canvassed the area. It is an active investigation. The release said people with information about the incident are asked to call city police at (860) 447-5269, ext. 0, or they can submit information anonymously by texting NLPDTip plus the information to 847411.
