One person injured in rollover crash in Norwich

Norwich — One person was injured in a rollover crash Monday night on Salem Turnpike.

About 10:10 p.m. Monday, a person driving a gray pickup truck struck a utility pole near 238 Salem Turnpike, according to the police. The utility pole snapped in half and the truck rolled over, trapping the driver inside, police said. The driver was removed from the truck and taken to Backus Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Crews were on the scene until about midnight clearing the wreckage and the pole was repaired by about 3 a.m. Tuesday, police said. No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.

Police said Tuesday evening that the driver had been released from the hospital and no arrests have been made in the incident.
