Police investigating New London carjacking
New London — Police are searching for the perpetrator of a carjacking in the area of Channing and Vauxhall streets that took place Tuesday morning.
About 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, New London police responded to the scene for a report of a stolen car.
“Upon arrival, officers were able to determine that an occupied motor vehicle was taken by force,” a police news release put out Wednesday reads. “No weapon was utilized during the incident, and the female victim was not injured.”
Police say they are searching for a white male about 5 foot, 8 inches in height, with brown hair and ungroomed facial hair.
New London police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, found the car in Woonsocket, R.I. “The vehicle was recovered and a person of interest has been identified,” the release reads.
