    Sound Advice

Agents and brokers are a great resource for lists of local, reputable home inspectors. Deciding whom to hire is a matter for the buyer, and it’s an important decision, as Realtor Carter Briggs explains:

“Hire a trusted inspector who understands concerns you may have with a property. Work with someone who physically shows you, as well as explains the findings and safety concerns—and provides a detailed inspection report. After all, it could determine whether you purchase the property. Sometimes preliminary inspections require additional examinations from licensed professionals in a specific field. Be prepared with experts in those fields, to keep the transaction in motion and on schedule. Customarily, unsatisfactory findings allow buyers the opportunity to terminate a contract or utilize the report as a negotiation tool.”
