    Local roundup: Luther scores twice as Ledyard boys beat Waterford 3-1 in ECC D-II match

    Ledyard — Peyton Luther scored a pair of goals as Ledyard defeated Waterford 3-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II boys’ soccer match on Friday night.

    Mason Day also scored for the Colonels (5-5-1, 2-1-1), who overcame a brief 1-0 deficit when Giovanni Ortiz scored an unassisted goal for the Lancers (5-4, 2-2) in the 10th minute.

    Nate Vidal, Jack Smith and Cam Weber had assists for Ledyard and goalie Paulo Templeton made five saves. Ben Dubicki stopped 11 shots in goal for Waterford.

    In other matches:

    • Five different players scored goals as Old Lyme rolled to a 5-0 win over Hale-Ray in the Shoreline Conference. Owen Snurkowski, Luke Celic, Anders Silberberg, Mason Wells and Alis Bicic each had a goal for the Wildcats (4-4-2, 4-2-1) while Aidan Kerrigan and Ian Maeby added assists.

    • St. Bernard remained unbeaten in ECC Division IV play with a 4-1 win over Tourtellotte. Desmond Powers, Jose Pacheco and Alex Graul scored goals for the Saints (7-1-1, 4-0), who also had an own goal, while Dan O’Brien made seven saves in goal.

    • Goals by Michael George and Roman McIlwee lifted Norwich Tech to a 2-1 win over Ellis Tech in the Connecticut Technical Conference East Division. The Warriors improved to 6-2-1, 3-0-1.

    H.S. girls’ soccer

    • Goals by Sydney Cook and Madison O’Donnell lifted Montvilel to a 2-0 win over Tourtellotte. Lily Tomczik added an assist for Montville (5-3-1) and goalie Katie Myjak made five saves to earn the shutout.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Surging Waterford won its seventh straight match with a 3-1 victory over Lyman Memorial. Game scores were 25-20,22-26, 25-20 and 25-20. Emerson Lane had 15 kills, two blocks and four aces for the Lancers (9-3) while Lillian Steinhaus added 28 assists, Erica Mugovero 15 digs and Brielle Kenny seven kills. Lyman is 8-4.

    • Fitch rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 24-26, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19 and 15-10 non-conference road win at Granby Memorial. Madi Aldinger had 33 digs for the Falcons (7-5) while Katie Tuohy and Annalyn Cahill combined for 26 kills.

    • Kiera Stewart had eight aces and 15 assists to highlight Bacon Academy’s 3-1 win over New London. Game scores were 25-14, 25-4, 25-27 and 25-16. Sammi D’Atri added 10 digs for the Bobcats (7-6) while Nalyce Dudley had two aces, eight kills, three blocks and 27 digs to lead the Whalers (0-10) while Serenity Lancaster had two blocks, one ace and four kills and Carolina Lugo had 14 digs.

    • Ledyard rolled to a 25-9, 25-16 and 25-8 win over Killingly. Keara Opelinik had four kills and three blocks for the Colonels (5-7) while Kylee Gill added six digs and Caylee Cliett two kills and three blocks.

    • Griswold improved to 10-0 with a 25-6, 25-15 and 25-12 win over Plainfield. Kuranda Ruggiero led the Wolverines with 25 assists, seven aces, six digs and one kills while Makayla Neilson had 11 kills, Gretta Dombkowski six kills, two aces and twodigs, and Abby Matheson eight kills, six aces and four digs.

    • Old Lyme defeated Montville 25-14, 25-19 and 25-10 in a non-conference match. Peighton Andrew had six aces and five kills for the Wildcats (4-7) while Grace Phaneuf added nine assists and four aces and Quinn Arico had five kills. Montville (4-9), which hosted its Spike Out Cancer benefit match to raise money for cancer reserach,was led by Reagan Buscetto with six digs, five assists and one kills and Grace Galvin with nine digs.

    • Norwich Tech rallied for a 6-25, 26-24, 25-20 and 26-24 win over Ellis Tech in the Connecticut Technical Conference East Division. Kaylee Gray had 10 kills and three digs for the Warriors (7-5, 6-2) and Autumn Hanks added six assists, four digs and two assists.

    • Windham Tech defeated Grasso Tech 26-24, 16-25, 26-24 and 25-24 in the CTC East. Antonia Orbe had 10 service points for the Eagles (1-9, 1-7) while Jamilette Montes added 12 points and Emma Pavlak had 11 points and three kills.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Alice Hu scored twice as Fitch defeated Killingly 5-0 in the ECC. Ada Ellis added a goal and an assist for the Falcons (7-2, 5-2) while Sophie Ash had two assists, Olivia Romano and Riley Harrington each scored a goal, Ashley Holmes had an assist and goalie Abriel Carey made eight saves for the shutout.

    H.S. swimming

    • The Fitch/Stonington/Wheeler/New London cooperative program remained unbeaten with an 83-76 win over Waterford in the ECC. The Falcons (6-0, 5-0) picked up individual wins from Delaney Reck in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.81), Ashlyn Dunn in tge 50 freestyle (28.81), Addison Fulling in the 100 butterfly (1:06.93) and Chloe Main in the 100 free (1:05.60) while Julia Gathy won the 200 free (2:17.93) and 500 free (5:59.94) for the Lancers (2-4, 2-3).

    College volleyball

    • Middlebury rolled to a 25-13, 25-22 and 25-12 win over Connecticut College in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Emma Wheeler led the Camels (6-7, 1-4) with seven kills and three blocks while Christina Leduc and Katherine Randall added six kills apiece and Julia Dailey had nine digs.
