    H.S. roundup: Old Lyme girls’ tennis team wins its 50th straight match

    Portland — The Old Lyme girls’ tennis team won its 50th straight match on Thursday, beating Portland 7-0 in a Shoreline Conference match.

    The Wildcats are the two-time defending Class S and Shoreline champs. Sam Tan, Elaine Morosky and Callie Bass each won their matches 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles teams of Livie Bass-Alexis Fenton and Aggie Hunt-Beatrice Hunt also won. Old Lyme (7-0, 7-0) won the other two matches by forfeit.

    In other matches:

    • St. Bernard swept singles play en route to a 6-1 win over New London in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III match. Sasha Manzione, Meri Kambolli, Blake Murray and Carmela Rangel won in straight sets for the Saints (1-2, 1-0) along with the doubles teams of Theany Nguyn-Mia Gashi and Diana Coronado-Sofia Breslavets. Cheadlen Petit-Frere and Delande Forestal won at No. 2 doubles for New London (1-2, 1-1).

    • Fitch didn’t drop a set en route to a 7-0 win over Woodstock. Julia Mielguj, Charlotte Beaulieu, Maddie Beaulieu and Fiza Shariff won for the Falcons (3-1) along with the doubles teams of Izzy Ash-Ada Ellis, Sophie Ash-Kelly Turley and Ava Kennedy-Katie Virtue.

    • Abbott Tech beat Norwich Tech 6-1 in a CTC match. Sophia Caballero and Alejandra Cardona won their doubles match for the Warriors (2-2).

    • Stonington’s Grace Duggan, Maddie Gonzalez, Emily Fulling and Misha Lewandowski swept the singles matches without losing a game to highlight Stonington’s 7-0 win over Lyman Memorial on Wednesday. Katia Snegovskih-Lauren Buckley, Marina Lewandowski-Danielle Liston and Angelina Williams-Gwen McGugan were the Bears’ doubles winners.

    Boys’ golf

    • East Lyme’s Tyler Moore was the medalist with a 36 as the Vikings beat Stonington 6-1. Jack Bucko, Sebby DeCosta (38) and Anthony Bartolotta won matches for East Lyme (3-0) and Connor Tavares won at No. 4 for Stonington (2-2). East Lyme won the medal point 169-176.

    • Killingly beat Fitch 7-0 as all five of its players broke 40. Cam Seiffert was the medalist with an even-par 35 as Killingly shot a 146. Charlie Bergendahl’s 47 led Fitch (0-4).

    • NFA beat Waterford 7-0. Max Weston was the medalist with a 40 and Costa Kapilotis, Nick Wigfield, Liam O’Neil and John Howe also won matches for NFA (2-1). Waterford is 0-3.

    • Old Lyme lost to Hale-Ray in a Shoreline Conference match, 181-226. Alex Chrysoulakis led Old Lyme (0-2, 0-2) with a 47.

    • Grasso Tech beat Prince Tech 213-270 in a CTC match. Ian Main of Grasso (2-1-1) was the medalist with a 45.

    Baseball

    • St. Bernard remained unbeaten with a 10-0 win over Stafford in a nonleague game that was called after five innings on a mercy rule. Ethan Chavez pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the win. Bryan Lowe had two hits, Chavez hit a two-run single and Chris Tonucci and Bryce Morrissette each scored twice for the Saints (7-0).

    • Dylan Meyer pitched six innings for the win as Fitch beat Waterford 11-3 in an ECC Division I game. Dylan Meyer pitched 6 innings only giving up 2 earned runs to get the win. Donte Valentine (three RBI), Meyer, Jack Ballou and Tommy Rogers (three runs) had two hits each and Isaac Frank drove in two runs for Fitch (3-5, 2-1). Brian Ingraham was 3-for-3 with two RBI for Waterford (5-4, 0-3).

    Boys’ tennis

    • Old Lyme remained unbeaten with a 7-0 win over Portland in a Shoreline Conference match. Cooper Munson, Charles Hinckley, Griffin McGlinchey and Andy Sicuranza were straight-set winners for the Wildcats (6-0, 6-0). Old Lyme won all three doubles matches by forfeit.

    • Woodstock beat New London 5-2 in an ECC Division II match. Jayden Gomez and Elijah Quinones won in three sets at No. 2 doubles for New London (1-4, 1-2).

    • St. Bernard/Wheeler won its first match with a 7-0 win over NFA on Wednesday. Wyatt Hayes, Sam Cunningham, Zachary Kobyluck and Sam Gannotti won singles matches for the Saints (1-0) while Nathaniel Dobley-Andrew Coronado won at No. 1 doubles. NFA (0-4) forfeited the other two doubles matches.

    • Waterford swept all four singles matches and defeated Ledyard 5-2 on Wednesday night. The Lancers (4-2) picked up wins from Ian Balfour, Cristos Matsas, Peter Colonis and Noah Westkott, along with the No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Bertrand-Arthur Dhervilly. Malloch Allison-Sebastian Fieldsend and Clark Ysewyn-Jerson Suarez won doubles matches for the Colonels (1-2).
