    H.S. lacrosse: Montville’s Lily Tomczik scores 175th career goal in win over Wheeler/Grasso

    Montville — Senior Lily Tomczik scored 10 goals to break the school record for career goals as as Montville rolled to a 20-8 girls’ lacrosse win over Wheeler/Grasso Tech on Saturday.

    Tomczik, an all-state pick in 2022, now has 175 career goals after breaking the old school record of 167 set by Alexis DeLucia, who graduated in 2020. Tomczik also had an assist for Montville (2-3).

    Kylie Spreng added five goals for Montville while Kate Bowman scored twice, Bella Estella had a goal and three assists, Reagan Buscetto had a goal and two assists and Anna Bubucis had a goal.

    In other games:

    • Unbeaten Stonington built a 10-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 15-2 win over Killingly in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II game. Emma Logel had four goals an an assist for the Bears (6-0, 4-0) while Autumn Christian and Shay Burnside scored three goals apiece and Emma Spathakis finished with two goals and two assists.

    • Abbie Belleville scored five goals as unbeaten East Lyme toppled Glastonbury 15-6 in a nonconference game. Meg Nagle added four goals for the Vikings (6-0) while Dani Bruno had two goals and three assists, Lily Poletto had a goal and two assists, Summer Sistare had three assists and Riddhi Ventkatesh and Izzy Pazzaglia had one goal and one assist apiece.

    • Molly Page had seven goals and one assist while Leah Burchman added six goals and an assist during NFA’s 21-8 nonconference win over Middletown. Lauren Friedrich and Alice Rourke finished with three goals and three assists apiece for the Wildcats (2-4) while Hayleigh Young added two goals and one assist and goalie Sophia Smith made four saves.

    • Ledyard overcame a five-goal deficit to defeat Old Saybrook 12-9 in a nonconference game. Maddie McLeod scored eight goals to lead the Colonels (6-1) while Tatianna Irizarry added three goals, Delaney Gortner scored once and goalie Lorelai England stopped 10 saves.

    • Joanna Lin’s goal in sudden death overtime gave Woodstock Academy a 6-5 win over St. Bernard. Chloe Jennings scored three goals for the Saints (1-3) and goalie Catherine Hannaford made seven saves.

    • Sienna Caron had six goals and three assists to lead Griswold/Norwich Tech to a 24-7 win over New London in an ECC Division III game. Emily Aviles added five goals and two assists for the Wolverines (3-4, 1-2) while Keira Fleming and Neiara Myrick scored four goals apiece and Kaylin Stockwell had two goals and one assist. Princesse Omotosho scored three goals for the Whalers (0-3, 0-1) while Kalya Ferryman and Keshvi Patel added two apiece.

    Boys

    • Logan Jenkins had three goals and five assists to highlight NFA’s 11-3 nonconference road win over E.O. Smith. Anthony Ballestrini added three goals and two assists for the Wildcats (3-2) while Conor Gaughan scored twice, Tommy Brunelli had one goal and two assists, Wyatt Woodcock and Tristan Laney each scored once and goalie Patrick Lawson made 11 saves.

    • Jameson Pirro and Ethan LoVetere scored three goals apiece as Bacon Academy edged Granby 8-7 in a nonconference game. Gavin Emmons added two goals for the Bobcats (6-2) while Gavin Shkutzko had two assists and goalie Chase Goulet made 11 saves.

    • Noah Borguist had six goals and two assists as Xavier defeated East Lyme 17-9 in Middletown. Drew Sager scored six goals to lead the Vikings (4-4) while Gavin White had two goals and one assist, Sawyer Tighe a goal and two assists, Jack Keating two assists and goalie Spencer Sherman stopped 12 shots.

    • Harvey defeated Williams School 12-5 on Friday. Brian Li scored two goals for the Blues (3-2) while Henry Champagne had one goal and two assists, Cody DeLaurentis had a goal and five ground balls and goalie Henry Gallagher made 15 saves.
