    High school softball roundup: LaTour homer helps lift Lyman Memorial past Plainfield

    Lebanon — Kassidy LaTour broke a 3-3 tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Lyman Memorial High School softball team went on to defeat Plainfield 7-5 Friday.

    Natani Spears and Loretta Svedarsky added home runs for Lyman (7-3). LaTour was the winning pitcher, striking out 13, and LaTour, Spears, Svedarsky and Rylee Benway all had multiple hits for the Bulldogs, who finished with 11 hits.

    Hannah Irons homered for Plainfield.

    In other games:

    • Madi Davis had three hits, including a triple, and Arleen McKiernan doubled twice to lead East Lyme past Ledyard 10-1. Abby Robinson, one day after pitching a no-hitter against Guilford, gave up three hits to earn the win for East Lyme (6-4), striking out seven. Meagan Miller had an RBI double for Ledyard (4-6).

    • Aubrey Martin (double, three RBI), Melina Graziano (double, two RBI) and Hailey Smith had three hits each as Norwich Free Academy blanked North Branford 8-0. Smith pitched a five-hitter for NFA (8-3).

    • Paige Jessuck had two hits and three RBI and Anna Dziecinny had a homer and three RBI for Waterford in a 13-3 victory over Stonington in the teams’ 13th annual Play for the Cure game. Charlotte Jessuck added two hits and an RBI and Grace Muti tripled for Waterford (8-3). Kelsea Anserson was 2-for-3 with a triple for Stonington (8-4) and Melanie Verbridge and Bri Plew each tripled.

    • Ava Roth was 4-for-4 with a double and four runs scored and winning pitcher Emma Bayor struck out 13 in addition to going 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBI as Old Lyme blanked Valley Regional 13-0 in six innings. Jamie Bucior and Jenna Schauder each had three hits for Old Lyme (9-1 overall, 7-1 Shoreline Conference).

    • Isabella Deledda had a double, triple, an RBI and a run scored in Wheeler’s 6-3 win over Windham. Abby Butromovic and Reese Main added two hits apiece for the Lions (5-5), who scored single runs in the first through sixth innings. Pitchers Victoria Kleeman and Main combined for the victory.

    • Amanda Corrice pitched a two-hitter to lift Montville past Tourtellotte 20-5 in five innings. Isabella Mitchell (two doubles, four RBI), Almaz Sklodosky (two RBI) and Maddie Taylor (three RBI) each had three hits for Montville (3-9).

    • Caity Flynn pitched a four-hitter and had a hit with two RBI and a run scored in Norwich Tech’s 14-4 win over Windham Tech. Emily Grant had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored for Norwich Tech (10-2), Nyomi Barboza had a hit and three runs and Victoria Tirado and Diana Kozerefski each had a hit with two runs.

    • Alina Skrabacz pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks and also homered twice in New London’s 13-1 win over Putnam on Thursday. Skrabacz scored four times and had two RBI for the Whalers, who scored seven times in the fourth inning. Jayla Mateo, Amaya Outler, Cristal Ramirez and Yomairis Santiago each had a hit and a run scored for New London (3-6).
