    H.S. roundup: Ledyard boys clinch ECC D-II tennis crown

    Ledyard — Ledyard clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II boys’ tennis title with a 6-1 win over Woodstock Academy on Wednesday.

    The Colonels (7-5, 4-0), who accepted two forfeits, picked up singles wins from Ben Fieldsend and Ronan Allison and doubles wins from Malloch Allison-Sebastian Fieldsend and Clark Ysewyn-Jerson Suarez.

    In other matches:

    • Singles players Will Albrikes Andres Sarder and Charlie Gempp were 6-0, 6-0 winners to highlight Fitch’s 7-0 win over Lyman Memorial. Mason Woodhams also won his singles match for the Falcons (11-2) as did the doubles teams of Nick Sousa-Morgan Fisher, Ryan Mignosa-Michael McBride and Michael Petropoulos-Emanuel Cruz Gonzalez. Lyman is 1-9.

    H.S. girls’ tennis

    • East Lyme improved to 4-7 with a 7-0 win over Killingly. Mara Wolff, Valentina Schiano, Avery Rindell and Addison Kan won singles matches for the Vikings while the teams of Riddhi Bansal-Jeanette Liu, Gracie Davis-Kylee Johnston and Erin Tjardes-Amanda Wood won doubles matches.

    • St. Bernard swept all four singles matches on the way to a 5-2 win over Windham/Windham Tech in ECC Division III. Sasha Manzione, Meri Kamboli, Blake Murray and Carmela Rangel were all straight-set winners for the Saints (4-7, 4-2) as was the No. 1 doubles team of Theany Nguyn-Mia Gashi.

    • Singles wins by Grace Dugan, Marcella Hamm, Maddie Gonzalez and Danielle Liston lifted Stonington to a 7-0 win over Ledyard. The Bears (9-1) also picked up doubles wins from Katia Snegovskikh-Lauren Buckley, Misha and Marina Lewandowski and Gwen McGugan-Angelina Williams. Ledyard falls to 8-3.

    H.S. baseball

    • Old Lyme erupted for six runs in the third inning and went on to win its seventh straight game with an 11-4 victory over Portland in the Shoreline Conference. Ben Frazier, Grady Lacourciere, Owen Snurkowski and Casey Hurtgen all drove in runs during the third for the Wildcats (14-3, 13-3). Lacourciere finished 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI for Old Lyme while Frazier had two hits and Hurtgen was the winning pitching, allowing three hits and striking out 11 in the complete-game effort.

    • Anthony Jessuck allowed only three hits and no earned runs over five innings as Waterford edged Barlow 3-2 in a nonleague game on Tuesday night. Matt Shampine pitched two scoreless earnings to earn the save for the Lancers (8-8) while Quinn Speller singled and scored twice, Max Petrini had an RBI single and Matt Ory drove in a run.

    • Stonington scored seven runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 3-1 deficit, and the Bears went on to rout Wheeler 11-3. Jace Wolfradt was had two hits, two runs and two RBI for Stonington (9-7) while Finn Eck was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Alex Starr had two hits. Kyle Kessler and James Main hit solo homers for the Lions (11-3) with Kessler and Sean Bergel each finishing with three hits apiece.

    H.S. girls’ lacrosse

    • Sydney Goulding scored six goals while Ella Curtiss Reardon had four goals and four assists as Old Lyme won its fifth straight with a 19-2 win over Valley Regional in the Shoreline Conference. Gretchen Burgess added three goals for the Wildcats (10-3, 8-2) while Alexis Antonellis had two goals and one assist and Maya LeQuire scored twice.

    • Emma Logel scored six goals as Stonington remained unbeaten with a 17-3 win over Woodstock Academy. Autumn Christian added four goals for the Bears (12-0) while Shay Burnside scored three goals and Emma Spathakis scored twice.

    • Sophia Gouveia had two goals and an assist during Wheeler’s 20-3 loss to Bacon Academy. Grace Cassata also scored for the Lions (5-5) and goalie Anna Barber made 13 saves.

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • Roman Rich scored four goals and goalie Evan Hicks made 14 saves as Fitch upset East Lyme 12-11 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday night. Evan Salen added three goals and one assist for the Falcons (8-5, 2-4) while Tate Gordan scored three goals and Boden Frost and Eli Walters had one goal and two assists each. Jack Campbell scored five goals for the Vikings (7-6, 5-1) while Drew Sager added two goals and two assists and Sawyer Tigher finished with a goal and two assists.

    • Waterford built a 6-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 14-5 win over Woodstock Academy in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday night. Trevor Stringer had a six-point game for the Lancers (10-4, 5-2) while Jackson Huta finished with four goals and one assist, Johan Deon and Tarance Silva each scored twice, Griffin Neal had one goal and one assist, Ayden Bousquet and Ben Dubicki had one goal apiece and goalie Dylan McCarthy made eight saves.

    H.S. boys’ golf

    • Bacon Academy defeated Waterford 5.5-1.5. Waterford’s Jacob Beardsley shot a 41 along with the Bobcats’ Connor Tuttle and Alex Gallardo. Beardsley and Tuttle halved their match while Gallardo, Robert June and Devon Kudrak won matches for the Bobcats as did Ethan Haynes for the Lancers.

    • Old Saybrook’s Drew Klumann shot a 1-under-par 35 to win medalist honors and lead the Rams to a 7-0 nonleague win over Fitch. Charlie Bergendahl led the Falcons (0-11) with a 41.

    • Jack Wise was the medalist with a 37 as Cromwell defeated Old Lyme 167-210 in the Shoreline Conference. Alex Chrysoulakis shot a 46 to lead the Wildcats, who dropped a 202-205 decision to Coginchaug on Tuesday with Chrysoulakis also lead the way with a 49.

    H.S. girls’ golf

    • Caroline Godere shot a 48 to earn medalist honors as NFA defeated Waterford 217-281 in the ECC. Maddy Smith added a 53 for the Wildcats (9-1, 9-0) while Jacquelie Tran led Waterford with a 67.

    • Alllison Mentz shot a 58 to lead Stonington past Bacon Academy 237-257 in the ECC. Bacon’s Mia Belcamino earned medalist honors with a 52.
