    H.S. roundup: Old Lyme girls wins 62nd straight tennis match

    Waterford – The Old Lyme girls’ tennis team completed its third straight undefeated regular season with a 6-1 win over Waterford on Thursday.

    The Wildcats (19-0) have won 62 straight matches. They are the two-time defending Class S champions and have won three straight Shoreline Conference titles.

    Elaina Morosky, Callie Bass and Katherine Zhang won their singles matches for Old Lyme and the doubles teams of Livie-Bass-Alexis Fenton, Aggie Hunt-Beatrice Hunt and Izzy Reynolds-Natalie Buckley won in straight sets.

    Sarah Hage of Waterford (10-5) beat Sam Tan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

    In other matches:

    • St. Bernard defeated Montville 7-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III match on Wednesday. Sasha Manzione, Meri Kamboli and Blake Murray won singles matches for the Saints (6-8, 6-2) as did the doubles teams of Theany Nguyn-Carmela Rangel, Kaylee Jennings-Mia Gashi and Abigail McCarron-Diana Coronado.

    Boys’ tennis

    • Montville earned a share of the ECC Div. III title with a 7-0 win over Lyman Memorial. Jack Giurleo, Brendan Duhamel, Benny Wu and Darren Chen won singles matches for Montville (9-6, 5-1) along with the teams of Danny Zhong-Ryan Yang, Nathan Dhillon-Jack Bowman and Jayden Saguiped-Spencer Buecker.

    • Stonington swept doubles play and beat East Lyme 6-1 to complete ECC Division I play unbeaten. The teams of Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan, Sam Lund-Joshua Lord and Owen Grant-Peter Schoencker won in straight sets for the Bears (15-1, 6-0) along with Brady O’Neil, Chase Donnarummo and Jackson Conlon. Ajay Rana won at No. 2 singles for the Vikings (10-3, 3-3).

    • Old Lyme wrapped up its regular season with a 6-1 win over Waterford. Cooper Munson, Charles Hinckley, Griffin McGlinchey and Andy Sicuranza won their matches for the Wildcats (15-3) as well as the doubles teams of Micah Bass-Aidan Kerrigan and Leland Hine-Alis Bicic. Adam Balfour and Colton Murch of Waterford (7-7) won at No. 3 doubles.

    Boys’ golf

    • Stonington’s Brandon Tavares was the medalist as the Bears beat Montville 7-0. Tavares shot a 3-over-par 38 at Norwich Golf Course and teammates Ethan Torres (39), Connor Tavares (42), Cam O’Connor (42) and Sam Olmstead (52) also won matches for Stonington (10-4). Ben Godburn led Montville (7-4) with a 44.

    • Fitch’s Gianni Drab was the medalist as the Falcons lost to Morgan 183-202. Drab shot a 42 for Fitch (0-13).

    • Portland beat Old Lyme 155-215 in a Shoreline Conference match. Alex Chrysoulakis had the low score for Old Lyme (2-12, 0-10) with a 47.

    Girls’ golf

    • Rory Risley carded a 52 as Stonington had a medal total of 244 and earned a forfeit win over Killingly, which had only three players. Taya Kelly added a 62 for the Bears (4-3, 4-3) and Adilyn Risley as next with a 63.

    Girls’ track

    • Tatiana Jones and Hannah Graham won two events each as NFA edged Ledyard 76-74 on Wednesday. Jones won the 100 hurdles (17.30) and 300 hurdles (51.84) and Graham took the discus (125-9) and shot put (35-3.5). Caroline Holmberg, Lily Gilbert, Riley Davis and Kaitlyn Titus also won events for the Wildcats (2-2).

    Linda Holeman and Kate Littler won two events each for Ledyard. Holeman won the 100 (13.69) and javelin (97-9) and Littler won the 800 (2:23.10) and 1600 (5:46.17). Ella Stephenson Josephine Withbroe and Keara Opalenik also won events for the Colonels (5-1).

    • Darielys Arnold, Nalyce Dudley, Kmara Royster, Olivia Crane-Benjamin and Tatiana Pemberton won two events each as New London beat Windham 76-40 on Wednesday. Arnold took the 100 (12.5) and 300 hurdles (52.5), Dudley won the 200 (27.2) and javelin (74-7), Royster won the 100 hurdles (17.5) and high jump (4-8), Crane-Benjamin won the 800 (2:59.2) and 1600 (6:22.7) and Pemberton won the long jump (16-5) and triple jump (36-0). Natalie Kemp and Adrianna Benjamin also won events for the Whalers (4-3).

    • Waterford lost to Woodstock Academy 113-37 on Wednesday. Avery Maiese and Ava Lee won events for Waterford (2-3).

    Boys’ track

    • Elliot Childs won three events as Waterford beat Woodstock Academy 82-68 on Wednesday. Childs took the 110 hurdles (15.9), 300 hurdles (43.0) and long jump (19-1.5). Evan Piotrowski and Rhys Tickner were double winners for the Lancers with Piotrowski winning the 200 (22.9) and 400 (51.6) and Tickner winning the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (39-0). Luke Bartlett and Jay Zimmermann also won events for Waterford (3-2).

    • New London lost to Windham 69.5-63.5 on Wednesday. SaVahn Warren won three events for New London, taking the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-9) and triple jump (41-4). Jorge Gonzalez Garcia of New London won the 100 (11.37) and 400 (54.61). Tyree Barnes, Frankee Morocho and Shea Quashie also won events for the Whalers (0-7).
