Liz Force named field hockey coach at Waterford High

Waterford — Liz Force was named head coach of the field hockey program at Waterford High School on Monday, athletic director Chris Landry announced.

Force, who teaches math at the school and is an assistant coach with the Lancers’ track and field program, takes over for Molly Quiles, who resigned following the 2022 season.

“This will be Liz’s first head coaching position and with her incredible work ethic and strong sense of team building and team camaraderie, her impact will be felt immediately by next year’s field hockey team,” Landry said in a release.

Waterford went 6-9 last season and qualified for both the Eastern Connecticut Conference and CIAC Class M tournaments. The Lancers will return 24 players, including eight letter winners, from that team.

“I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity to work with these amazing girls,” Force said. “The sport of field hockey holds some of my fondest memories and I can’t wait to pass on my passion and knowledge to the next generation of players. I look forward to growing this program and continuing the success that Molly has created over the years.”
